A) the old man is blind. The effect and representation behind this highlights Frankensteins monsters’ realisation towards his appearance and how it leads to his contestant dismissal. Additionally it shows the monster needs somebody to be blind to accept him, despite his immaculate English- his abnormal appearance.
b) the old man is left alone. This adds on to my precious point, he feels the old (and blind) man must be alone to give him a chance. The monster knows he other family members won’t let him in due to his appearance, so the only way to give his say is to say it to a individual blind man.
c) the family are due to return any moment. This shows that Frankenstein’s monster is aware of what the family’s reaction will be, but most of all his desperation for love and acceptance. It shows despite his knowledge , he decides to be impatient and make a snap decision, knowing it’s his only chance.
